Chef Charles Eugene owns and operates Spicy Charlie’s Catering in Studio City
. He cultivated his love of cooking when he was growing up in the West Indies; he often watched his mother prepare meals seasoned lovingly with fragrant herbs and spices. As a young adult he began preparing the spicy and hearty dishes of his childhood for friends and family - but he regarded it as pleasant pastime instead of a business.

While waiting to audition as an extra for Amistad he prepared a few dishes for some of the crew, and one of the producers after tasting his food suggested that he cater for the Los Angeles wrap party. This catering experience gave him the desire to learn more.

He attended Johnson and Wales University where he learned from and worked with world renowned chef instructors. While attending this culinary institution he received an offer to cater a Holy Communion; and knowing his limitations, he hired one of his  chef instructors to work with him on that and subsequent catering opportunities. After he graduated and interned at the Beverly Regent Hotel, he managed an Offerdahl’s café, owned by John Offerdahl of the Miami Dolphins, and continues to work for the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles, while expanding his catering business.

Charles has catered for actors, writers, sports figures, and industry production companies, serving them customized and sophisticated menus that are haute cuisine fused with a Caribbean sensibility. Charles takes the time to know his clients so that he can learn their preferences and needs in order to create delicious meals and menus tailored to their specifications.

Executive Chef Charles Eugene, after receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree, has pursued an MPA,  Master’s in Public Administration. He never quits - graduate school encompassed all he holds dear -  cuisine, languages, and society.
